ZIRCONIUM(IV) CARBONATE - Uses and synthesis methods
introduction
Basic zirconium carbonate is a white solid powder, easily soluble in organic acids and inorganic salts, soluble in ammonium carbonate; insoluble in water and organic solvents, can be converted into zirconia at high temperature.
production method
The conversion method uses zircon, soda ash, hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid as raw materials to prepare basic zirconium carbonate: first, mix zircon concentrate powder and sodium carbonate in proportion, put it into a roasting furnace, and roast at 1100~1200 ℃. The roasted clinker is washed with 60% warm water to remove excess alkali. After filtration, the filter cake is dissolved with concentrated hydrochloric acid, and then filtered to obtain zirconium oxychloride solution, and sulfuric, after the first step of conversion, basic zirconium sulfate is obtained, and then soda ash is used for the second step of conversion to obtain basic zirconium carbonate, which is filtered and dried to obtain the product. Due to the different methods and conditions for preparing basic zirconium carbonate, the molar ratio of zirconium oxide to carbon dioxide (ZrO2/CO2) can vary from 4:1 to 1:1.
